The card comes as standard with the account and there is an account management fee of £12.50 per month which is debited directly from the account each month. Where were you told that you need to pay a £30 charge?

Using the bank account will show on your credit file and using the account correctly will help to add positive information to your credit file. This positive information will increase your credit rating. With regards to your student loans, yes, you can have those paid directly in to the account as well. The account is exactly the same as any other current account when it comes to having money paid in to it – whether that is a student loan, salary, benefits etc.

Hi Louise,

You can pay money in to the account at any Post Office branch or any High Street branch of Barclays bank. Direct Debits/Standing orders are standard facilities with the account as well as a MasterCard Debit card that you can use to either withdraw money from any ATM as well as paying for goods in shops or online.

This is the normal time it takes to receive a debit card with any kind of bank account. As soon as you apply for the account it will be opened immediately for you. You’ll receive your sort code and account number within minutes via email. This means you’ll be able to give you bank details to your employer right away.
